Visa formalities (apply for non-EU citizens)
As soon as you receive the letter of admission you are adviced to contact the nearest Czech embassy or consulate to apply for the long-term (Schengen) visa.

Insurance
In order to be granted a long-term visa, each student must be covered with valid travel insurance. Such insurance must cover costs associated with necessary and urgent health care and the payment limit must be at least EUR 60,000.00.
Once in Olomouc, you will be instructed by tutors how to obtain the complex insurance provided by the Czech General Insurance Company (VZP). This insurance is obligatory (cca 16.000 CZK per year) and will also be essential for the annual Schengen visa extension.

The changes are stemming from an amendment to the Act on Residence of Foreign Nationals' in the Territory of the Czech Republic which entered into force on January 1, 2011.
